Student Research Committee

Welcome to the web site of the Student Research Committee at Le Moyne College. An important part of college education is learning how to do research according to the standards and methods of your chosen field of study and academic discipline. The Committee welcomes proposals from all academic disciplines represented at the College.  This page tells you how to obtain support for different kinds of undergraduate research projects. Feel free to contact the chair or a member of the committee if you have any questions about the process.

Committee

The Student Research Committee solicits and evaluates proposals to support research by undergraduate students (in conjunction with a faculty member). The committee makes recommendations for funding to the Provost/Academic Vice President who then communicates the approval of awards to the Chair. The funding is managed through the office of the Chief Academic Officer. This committee is staffed each year by a faculty Chair, one faculty representative each from natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, management division, and an at-large faculty member. It also includes one student member nominated by the Student Senate President. In order to retain continuity this seven member committee replaces no more than four members (including the student) in a given year.

Important Dates

We encourage any student conducting research to apply for funding regardless of discipline. The committee meets several times a semester. 2011-2012 proposal call dates are:

  • September 23, 2011
  • October 14, 2011
  • November 11, 2011
