Novelist Meena Nayak will read from two of her novels set in India, About Daddy and Endless Rain, and from a rewriting of the Hindu epic, the Mahabharata. Nayakis an assistant professor of English at Northern Virginia Community College in Loudoun. This event is free and open to the public. Gregory Orfalea, who is teaching Middle Eastern and Eurasian Emigre Literature at Georgetown University, will be reading from his recent collection of memoirs and essays, "Angeleno Days," published in 2009 by the University of Arizona Press. The reading will touch on Arab-American women and discrimination of the community. Free and open to the public. Sponsored by the department of English and gender and women’s studies.
